A little sort of coincidental performance regression forced us to back out the new add-ons manager last week. It has now been re-landed with added bug fixes and should be in tomorrow’s nightly.

Just wanted to point you to my comment over in Jorge’s blog: http://xulforge.com/blog/2010/05/add-on-packaging-spec/comment-page-1/#comment-241 (first paragraph is about making extensions.ini more useful, hopefully something you are interested in).
I’m actually considering getting rid of extensions.ini, at least in terms of chrome handling. There is no reason the chrome registry can’t just ask the add-ons manager for that info and it is probably the easiest route to letting bootstrapped add-ons have chrome.
